Hinge makes you pay now for more than 10 likes a day – Update: 5 likes!

sticker shockNo more unlimited swiping and liking for the dating app Hinge.  You now only have up to 10 free likes in 24 hours – and still you cannot communicate with anyone unless you both “like” each other.  That’s really cutting down the options; even if you pay the supscription fee to get the unlimited likes, if the girl or guy that may be your match hasn’t upgraded to unlimited, they may not find you in the swipe world for the chance to “like” you and send a message.  Hinge is continuing to follow the many other “free” dating apps in their profits quest, converting free features to require a subscription fee, like OkCupid and POF and Tinder, and app users are noticing…the complaints are rolling in.

“Was an awesome app loved everything about it. Couple days ago they changed it where you have to pay for likes. Ruined the whole thing really. 10 likes in 24 hours? You gotta be kidding me. This will cause all the busy and worthwile people to leave. Also I get like 2 out if every 3 messages yet they show up in the notification bar and when I open it it’s gone.”

EDIT: They now started charging for likes, just like Tinder, are you serious? Such a scam. It had all the good looking girls lined up at the beginning when I created my profile and in a couple days it started giving me the girls I didn’t like all over again, even when I press X.

Unfortunately the Hinge team have made a massive mistake by starting to charge to swipe (quite costly too!) It was a great app and was truly the best dating one out there for any meaningful connections. It’s sadly just gone and killed it’s userbase though. Requires a quick 180 or a massive increase in “free” likes before it’s all too late.

This app was great. And now suddenly we have to pay to swipe unlimited ? Dont be greedy. Your app is of higher quality. Dont go ruining it by making me pay to get unlimited likes after you take it away from me for no good reason. Pretty garbage move hinge. And dont think we dont notice you not commenting on the plethora of complaints about this, but you’ll comment on complaint about spam members. Fix this

Really loved this app until you implemented a limit on how many likes a person can send. It doesn’t matter how good looking or personable a guy is, it’s always going to come down to a numbers game until someone decides to match. You’ve effectively taken away guys ability to match with people.

This app. turned out to be a scam. There has been quite a few fake profiles. One person had asked for my banking info. And when I had reported the profile, I did not receive any updates or a follow up. It’s like they don’t even care. Also recently they would start charging you for likes. You would only get a limit of 10 likes per day. Otherwise you would have to subscribe to their scam. In the beginning there used to be more attractive women on here. This app. doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

Just installed this due to a recommendation from a friend, but you only get 10 likes a day before you have to pay. Massively disappointing.. I wouldn’t mind paying for premium features, but this is a bit much and kind of a deal breaker.

This WAS the best dating app out there but now they’ve gone and gotten too big for their britches. Ruining their app with limited likes per day, and making microtransactions a central part of getting anywhere as far as dating goes. Really very disappointing to see it go this way but what are you gonna do. Bring in the next app because this ship is sinking fast.

the recent update that you only get a limited likes per day sucks. I think this update is a demise for this app now and probably an opportunity for the new developers. U get what like 10 likes a day thats nothing. I’m guessing after so many negative reviews they will have to take some steps to rectify their mistake.

Used to be very good, but Hinge has now started charging for more than 10 likes in a day. Also, I get notifications saying that someone has messaged me, but when I go to check my messages there’s nothing there. Irritating.

It was literally best thing of its kind on the app store until they made you pay to use it. Now it’s worthless, don’t bother even downloading it.

Look this app was great. The developers have now like every other dating app got greedy. Look no one expects you to work for free but my main issues with your new payment system. 1. You allow 10 likes every 24 hours…err what? That’s ridiculous period people live busy lives limiting them that much is crazy. 2. You expect people to pay for an app that has been broken for weeks, the notifications do not work…period. They either never show up unless you go into the app and into the conversation. Or it tells you that you have a message only for that message to not appear unless you delete and reinstall the app. You can’t expect people to want to pay for an app that is both broken and limiting. Really disappointed would happily have laid when the app was working and with no limits. But forcing me to pay to use a broken apo is just a slap in the face of people who have spread the word about this app and helped build your userbase.

Falling into the same micro transaction trap as the rest of them… you get a handful of free likes before you have to pay and like girls who will likely not like you to begin with…

1 star because you limited the likes to 10 per day. Stupid, greedy move.

Was a good app until the app creators got greedy and limited your access unless you pay. Way to ruin a great dating app

Once again another dating app ruining their service by limiting the likes per day and charging for more, looks like I’ll be moving onto the next app!

This app was okay until they limited your “likes” per day in a desperate attempt to push people to spend money. No thanks….

Why Friends Match Me dating site/app Does Not Require a Facebook Account anymore

One of the major reasons we have added more sign up/login options – Email/Password or Google Login, besides via Facebook login – is because it was a feature requested by many, as said in our upgrade announcement blog post, “Friends Match Me upgrade! Me We Too mini poll compatibilities, and Facebook optional!“.  It also felt time for it, based on new Facebook policies.  We’ve kept the pros of connecting your Facebook account to Friends Match Me, while not requiring it in order to use our dating site/app, and added frosting to the cake and a cherry on top with our custom algorithms and new partnership with Me We Too.

The reasons we opted at the launch of the Friends Match Me dating site/app to require a Facebook account for sign up/login was the idea that it would help with member account authenticity/quality, i.e. less “fake” accounts, and of course the features it enables – checking out mutual Facebook friends, Facebook likes, and similar Facebook likes.  But, as we have found, requiring a Facebook login does not stop the “fake” accounts; it’s just an extra step.  Anyone can create a new Facebook account, with any name, and then sign up to an app.  We have relied on our automatic and manual controls on Friends Match Me to make it a quality dating site/app.  And we continue to do so and update and improve our spam algorithms.

login with facebook option, friends match me

You can still connect Friends Match  Me with your Facebook account to get the Facebook-related features – check out member similar Facebook Likes, their Facebook likes on their profile (if they opted to share), and even search for members by Facebook like.  One feature we did have to remove from the Facebook connect however is mutual friends.  Facebook doesn’t offer this feature anymore to apps.  But, we have partnered with Me We Too and now offer new exciting ways to find more about other members and make real strong connections, through the Me We Too mini polls (read more on our blog post, “Friends Match Me upgrade! Me We Too mini poll compatibilities, and Facebook optional!“).

We welcome your feedback – we review and consider each one!

Couple surprises each other with double marriage proposal

Becky McCabe and girlfriend Jessa Gillespie capture the special moment on video by a photographer pretending to take photos of the couple at a Zoo Brew event at the Memphis Zoo.  During one of the poses, Becky gets down on one knee and surprises Jessa with a ring and proposes to her.  Shocked and excited, Jessa goes to her purse to take out her ring too, and in turn proposes to Becky.  Totally on the same page!

“I had no idea she planned to propose, and she had no idea I planned to propose to her!” Jessa said on Facebook. “We were both so surprised!!!!”

Facebook announces dating service coming soon – based around events

Facebook is throwing it’s hat into the ring of “Facebook dating apps” – but this will be directly a “Facebook” dating app hosted on their network.  Just first names, a separate dating profile from your Facebook profile, text messaging, and browsing events nearby and groups that interest you.

dating on facebook

No word on any advanced search tools for finding your special someone.  When you “unlock” an event, your profile is then visible to others who match your preferences.

facebook dating browse via events

“It mirrors the way people actually date, which is usually at events and institutions that they’re connected to,” said Chris Cox, Facebook’s chief product officer, during his keynote.

OKCupid removes “Inbox” folder for checking messages, no Sent folder either

looking-for-something

Where do you go to check your messages?  The Inbox right?!  Not anymore on OKCupid.  In one of their latest dating site/app updates there is no more Inbox folder.  It’s not that it’s renamed – it just doesn’t exist anymore on OKCupid.  To check your messages, you have to scroll through profile after profile, to find out if they happen to have sent you a message, and then if you want to read it, you have to like their profile for access.  To send a message, you also have to like their profile first.  You can’t see likes though unless you pay.  And there’s also no Sent Box.  Plus, once you like/send a message to someone, their profile disappears until they like/respond to your message.

Drawbacks?  Getting your message actually seen.  Finding a match.  Connecting with others.  Missing connections and possibilities.

The new version of the app and website is a dog turd. Messages never get seen. Abusive messages are down by 70% because all messaging is down by 70%. Everything is filtered through a swipe system based on likes you cant see in a free account. Bad form OK Cupid!

Seriously, in the beginning I put effort on writing the messages to people who I thought will be a good match but the fact that the other party have to judge you by how you look in your profile picture now and cant even see the message I sent after thinking for so long??? Your really trying your best to shut this app down aren’t you. Now I don’t even feel lile writing message to people while putting my heart into it at all. Going to be deleting this soon if they keep pushing the user to buy the subscription like all other hungry dating apps.

Ignore the copy and paste replies some guy on minimal wage uses to reply to the messages. Everything about this app is designed to lure you in to paying for a premium subscription. Don’t waste your time because even if you send someone a message they have to anonymously like you to even see your message. A massive waste of time and energy and the people who like you when you’re not subscribed are bots.

I hate the new messaging system. It was easy before, we get everything in our inbox. Now it’s a lot of misses and none of the hits. Have to go through so many people just to hope this one or that one messaged us. If harassment is the problem, we always had an option to ignore or block people.

Recent updates are garbage, show me people who messaged me instead of making me root for it, this is ridiculous. Not to mention how wonky half the settings are now for no reason The only distance options given are 15 miles and anywhere in the world for christ sake.

I used to love this app it was more personal so I’d get the chance to know someone before meeting them but this weird Tinder-isk type approach is terrible, if I wanted tinder I’d get tinder. My profiles not great but my messages would be good so what went from a good deal of talking to people because of my messages became zero because there lost in this update.

I used to like okaycupid the recent updates have made the app horrible. You can no longer see who visited your profile. That was a fun figured out a little more flirt to the app. Also is so complicated to search for people. If they ever bring the feature back I might download it.

I had lot of expectation from this app. Before opening an account, several questions were asked, it was okay but there are very few people that appears on your screen and then totally blank and have to wait for unknown period. If someone liked you then you have to pay view them. I paid for 1 month but your chat vanishes after sending a message and couldn’t see the chat section. Are you for real?? Even after paying money you don’t know whether the msgs was delivered or not…they saw our msgs or not. No any recommendation from my side. Just a waste of money and time

Has been changed to a Tinder clone. You still can write everyone, but they won’t see your message until they match with you. Doesn’t work, either. Hardly any matches since the transition. Changes have been poorly communicated, and now most users probably don’t know how to use it.

This app used to be nice to use but now is a waste of time.you cannot find and view the person who liked you and sent you a message without going thru a load of awful prospects. I want to see the person who messaged me and not all the others I have not. Going to have to delete .

I almost never use this app anymore because of the stupid way they have their messaging set up now. I honestly hate it. It used to be my favorite, now i don’t even see the point. Make it to where we can see all of the messages sent to us and i’ll start using it again.

Nia T

April 2, 2018
I thought that it was a problem on the browser but its also on the app i wish that i could see who messages me. It would make everything so much easier and i understand that theres alot of creepers and spammers but we should be able to just block them rather than the app automatically hiding the messages and having to pay to see who likes you. Its pretty upsetting.

And lots more of the same.  Sounds that No OK Cupid.  OKCupid has really complicated their dating app/site, with no benefit to members.

We have an Inbox on Friends Match Me.  And a Sent Box.  And you can check out who has liked – we call it favorited – your profile for free.  You can even check out your profile visitors.  All Free.  Even privacy settings are free.

Norooz’s sabzeh and wishing for love

One of the traditions of Norooz, the Persian New Year, is to grow sabzeh a couple weeks before the start of Spring for it to be ready for the Haft Seen, a spread of items starting with the Persian letter “seen” (and also some not starting with “seen”).

haftseen

Sabzeh is a grass grown with wheat, barley, or lentils.  It is a symbol of growth.

On the thirteenth day after Norooz, it is Sizdah Bedar, literally meaning the outing on the thirteenth.  It is the day family and friends spend time picnicking outdoors, and also when the sabzeh is thrown into a stream, river, or other free flowing water.  Traditionally, young women looking for love and to get married tie knots into the sabzeh before throwing it into the water.  Men, feel free to do it too!

Happy New Year!
